Design for Social Change

One of the reasons I started StoryPreso was to add value into the lives of people. But that definitely cannot be limited to corporate who can indirectly make impacts in this world. The call is to use visual thinking for social change. Today many big organizations are involved in this initiative to make a world a better place.

Today, the front page of Bangalore Mirror, stared at me – EVE TEASING! And as I read, I could picture evil parading on the streets. Now, Veena (the person who stood up) has decided to make this an initiative to eradicate this social evil. Her campaign is called, “It’s not COMMON Anymore”. You can join the facebook page: It’s not common anymore

While the immediate concern is to stand up against such social evils; it is imperative that we understand the roots behind such actions!

We can pass laws, punish the offender, and create awareness – but that will only block the root of this behavior for sometime. Eventually the root may find other ways to satisfy its cravings.

The need is to educate people about what causes one to become an EVE TEASER. Who knows, the ones who today are against such an evil – may indeed be harboring thoughts that could one day lead them to more disastrous behaviors.

So I believe in using Visual thinking to communicate these thoughts, so real social change can take place.

In the process, I am learning, sharing and collaborating to make a difference.
